Sebastián Molano opened the race with a bunch sprint win at the Bimmah Sink Hole for UAE Team Emirates, edging Fernando Gaviria and Gerben Thijssen on a 170.9 km flat stage to take the first leader's jersey on time bonuses.

Molano takes the opener at the Sink Hole
The 170.9 km flat opening stage to the Bimmah Sink Hole came down to a bunch sprint as expected. Sebastián Molano had the strongest kick, holding off Fernando Gaviria and Gerben Thijssen at the line. With the win came the time bonus and the first leader's jersey of the 2026 Tour of Oman.

The bunch finished together, so the stage's 10-6-4 time bonuses set the early GC. Molano leads from Gaviria and Thijssen ahead of the first hilly test on Stage 2.
