Stage 3
Setmana Volta Femenina Comunitat Valenciana 2026
The queen stage from Agost to La Nucía was cancelled on safety grounds after AEMET issued an orange wind warning for the province of Alicante. The 128 km mountain stage, with the Cat. 1 Alto de Tudons and Cat. 2 Alto de Confrides in the second half, was set to decide the GC; its loss left the overall to be settled on the closing day in Valencia.
Wind cancels the GC-deciding queen stage
Stage 3, the 128 km Agost → La Nucía queen stage, was called off the evening before by the organisers after the Spanish weather service AEMET issued an orange alert for strong gusts across Alicante. The route's decisive climbs — the Cat. 1 Alto de Tudons and the Cat. 2 Alto de Confrides packed into the final half — had been expected to blow the GC apart.
With the mountains erased from the race, Demi Vollering's Stage 1 advantage stood untouched and the general classification carried over unchanged into the final day. The cancellation made Stage 4 in Valencia, rather than the high climbs, the last chance to overturn the overall — a chance that never really materialised against a leader of Vollering's calibre.
GC frozen — Vollering's lead carries to the final stage
No racing meant no change: Vollering retained the overall lead from Squiban (+0:56) and Chladoňová (+0:58), with the youth jersey still on Chladoňová. The loss of the summit finishes removed the only terrain on which the pure climbers could realistically have unseated her before Valencia.
