Cat Ferguson (Movistar) won the sprint into Vila-Real ahead of Letizia Paternoster and Letizia Borghesi after the early climbs gave way to a long flat run-in. Demi Vollering finished safely in the front group and kept the overall lead.
The 115.5 km circuit around Vila-Real packed its climbing into the first half before roughly 50 km of mostly downhill and flat roads back to the line — a profile that pointed to a sprint if the fast finishers survived the hills. They did, and the day came down to a group gallop.
Movistar's 19-year-old Cat Ferguson timed the finish best, winning ahead of Letizia Paternoster (Liv AlUla Jayco) and Letizia Borghesi (AG Insurance-Soudal). The tight time spread among the leaders confirmed a bunch finish rather than a successful long break. Demi Vollering came in safely with the front of the race and retained the overall lead heading into the scheduled queen stage.
Ferguson's stage win came with the time bonus but from well down on GC, so the overall order at the front was unchanged: Vollering led from Squiban (+0:56) and Chladoňová (+0:58), with Chladoňová still in the youth jersey. The flat finish kept the GC contenders together and left the race to be settled on the mountains — or so it seemed before the weather intervened.
