Stage 2: Abadiño → Amorebieta-Etxano
Itzulia Women 2026
Dominika Włodarczyk took her first Women's WorldTour win, surviving from a late move with Shirin van Anrooij to hold off the yellow-jersey group by metres; Mischa Bredewold sprinted in for second and kept the overall lead.
Włodarczyk and van Anrooij go late and just survive — a breakthrough WorldTour win in Amorebieta-Etxano.
The 138 km stage from Abadiño to Amorebieta-Etxano produced the race's first real test of Bredewold's control. Late in the day Dominika Włodarczyk and Shirin van Anrooij forced the decisive move, opening a gap that the chasing yellow-jersey group could not quite close.
The two held off the bunch by the narrowest of margins on the run-in, and Włodarczyk had the legs to take the sprint for her first Women's WorldTour victory. Behind them the leader's group came in at the same time, with Bredewold leading them home for second ahead of van Anrooij, Liane Lippert and Letizia Borghesi.
The result didn't dislodge Bredewold from yellow, but it made clear that her rivals could still disrupt SD Worx-Protime by attacking at the right moment — and it announced Włodarczyk as one of the stories of the weekend.
Bredewold holds yellow as the front of the GC stays compressed.
Bredewold retains the lead after taking second on the stage in the same time as the leaders' group. Kastelijn, Dickson, Markus and Niedermaier remain within roughly half a minute, leaving the overall to be settled on the final Donostia stage.
