Stage 4 is 165.8km from Le Puy en Velay to Montrond-les-Bains in the Loire region. Rolling Massif Central transitions into the Forez hills; bridge stage between the TTT and the Alpine block. Puncheur-and-classics terrain rather than pure GC battlefield.
