Amstel Gold Race (Women)

The 2026 Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition is longer and tougher than ever - 158.1km from Maastricht to Valkenburg with 21 climbs. The race opens through Limburg's hellingen before hitting a crucial opening cluster (Kruisberg, Eyserbosweg, Fromberg, Keutenberg) that softens legs early. The real business starts with four passes of the 17.8km Cauberg-Geulhemmerberg-Bemelerberg finishing circuit, climbing the iconic Cauberg five times in total (the men climb it three times). The finale features the Cauberg with 21.6km to go, then with 1.7km to go for a near-summit finish after the climb. The compact circuit format, combined with 21 climbs in 158km, makes this one of the most intense one-day races on the women's calendar.

Form book & lore

The Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition has been part of the Women's WorldTour with the revitalised event returning on a modern course in 2017. Previous editions have been won by Marianne Vos, Demi Vollering, and in 2025 by Mischa Bredewold. It is part of the Ardennes triptych alongside La Flèche Wallonne Féminine and Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes. The race has grown steadily in prestige and now covers over 150km - among the longest one-day races on the women's calendar.

§ 07 — Viewing Notes

When to tune in

Tune in for the final 90 minutes - especially the third Cauberg pass (39km to go) onwards. Attacks often go on the fourth Cauberg (21.6km to go) or on the Bemelerberg. The finish comes just past the final Cauberg summit, which means the last 1.7km is the decisive section for any sprint from a small group. Spoiler caution: avoid YouTube sidebar, autoplay, and comments.
